KMFS DiaResin — set of 4 diamond resin sharpening stones, grits 1000 3000 6000 12000, plastic dovetail base

KMFS DiaResin are sharpening stones with a diamond resin bond layer on a standard KMFS dovetail base. Unlike conventional metal-bonded diamond plates, the abrasive is embedded directly into a resin binder — the result is a smoother, gentler sharpening feel and access to grits from 1000 to 12000, which are technically impossible with metal-bonded plates. The stones fit all KMFS systems and naturally extend the metal diamond set DIA240/600/1000 into the fine and ultra-fine range.

§ 02

Grits and their use

#1000
grit
Transition from coarser grits. Bevel definition, fast material removal — smoother feel than a metal plate at the same grit.
Transition / coarser
#3000
grit
Refining scratches from #1000. Preparing the bevel for final polishing. Burr reduces, steel surface becomes smooth.
Medium
#6000
grit
Fine finishing, semi-mirror bevel. The edge shaves arm hair and cleanly cuts paper.
Fine
#12000
grit
Mirror-polished bevel. Maximum edge sharpness and retention. Ideal step before leather stropping.
Ultra fine

Recommended sequence: KMFS metal diamond plates DIA (240 → 600 → 1000) for bevel geometry → DiaResin #1000 for transition and refinement → #3000 → #6000 → #12000 for mirror polish → leather strop for ongoing edge maintenance.

Abrasive typeSynthetic diamond
BondResin (polymer binder)
Available grits1000 / 3000 / 6000 / 12000
Colour codingDark green → light beige
The resin binder holds the diamond grains uniformly and dampens their aggressiveness compared to galvanic metal bonding. The sharpening feel is consistent and smooth — the bevel is refined without scratching. As grit increases, sharpening transitions smoothly into polishing.

Total length160 mm
Width23 mm
Height8 mm
Groove profileStandard KMFS dovetail
CompatibilityRival · VantaEdge · MOA21 · Sensei
The base is dimensionally identical to standard KMFS stones — DiaResin stones fit all existing holders without any modifications. The rigid plastic substrate guarantees a permanently flat sharpening surface; unlike synthetic waterstones it does not dish or wear unevenly, and never needs flattening.
Identification marking
Engraved logo and grit number on the side of the base
+
Grit markingDIARESIN GRIT #XXXX
LogoKMFS Czech Republic sharpener
Layer colour range#1000 dark green → #12000 beige
Each stone is unambiguously identified by the combination of the resin layer colour and the engraved grit number. The colour coding is intuitive — darker shades indicate coarser grits, lighter shades indicate finer grits.

Usage and lubricant

Recommended lubricant: Honing oil or water. No soaking required — lightly wet the surface just before sharpening and replenish as needed.

Key features

Smoother feel than metal plates
The resin binder dampens the aggressiveness of the diamond grains — sharpening is consistent and smooth, without scratching. At the same grit number, the resulting bevel surface is noticeably finer than after a metal-bonded plate.
Ultra-fine grits with diamond
Metal-bonded plates are typically available up to 1200 grit. The resin bond enables 6000 and 12000 grit with sufficient material removal — performance previously reserved for natural stones or ceramics, but without their drawbacks.
Permanently flat — no lapping needed
The rigid plastic base keeps the sharpening surface permanently flat. Unlike synthetic waterstones, it does not dish or wear unevenly — throughout the stone's lifetime, no flattening is required.
Handles the hardest steels
Synthetic diamond cuts even the most demanding blade steels (Maxamet, ZDP-189, M390, Elmax) without issue. Unlike ceramics or synthetic waterstones, hard carbides do not cause rapid loading or glazing.
Full KMFS compatibility
The standard dovetail base fits all KMFS systems without adapters or modifications. The perfect complement to the metal DIA240/600/1000 set, extending sharpening capability into the fine and ultra-fine range.
Easy maintenance
Rinse with water and wipe dry. The plastic base does not corrode, and the resin layer is not sensitive to moisture or honing oil. Stones are ready to use immediately without preparation.

Package contents

Stones are available as a set of 4 (1000 + 3000 + 6000 + 12000 grit) or individually. For symmetric systems (Rival, MOA21, Sensei) we recommend 2 stones per grit.
